Well, there certainly aren't koalas and kangaroos everywhere, but if you drive out into the country a little you'll see bazillions of wallabies. If you're in the NT there are kangaroos around. And in the drought sometimes you'll get koalas climbing into your yard to drink out of the birdbath, if you live in the hills.
